The flagship upright in the Steingraeber range. At 138 cm, it has the soundboard area to project across a recital hall and the bass register depth that lets it stand in for a small grand on a concert stage.

The 138 K is what Steingraeber-trained piano technicians point to when asked "which upright is closest to a Steingraeber grand?" The answer is this one. With 1-chord chamber music dampers available and the option of carbon fibre soundboard, it is the choice of the chamber musician who wants the projection of a grand without the floor space.
