Boosey & Hawkes.
The home of 20th-century classical. The catalogue holds Stravinsky, Britten, Copland, Bartók, Reich, Adams and Glass — the composers who defined the modern classical idiom. Founded in London in 1816 (Boosey) and 1865 (Hawkes), merged 1930.
Boosey & Hawkes is the catalogue home of the 20th-century classical canon. Stravinsky signed in 1947 and never left. Britten's entire catalogue — operas, orchestral, choral, song — published exclusively under their imprint since the 1940s. Copland, Bartók, Reich, Adams and Glass continue the tradition.
Below: the Boosey & Hawkes departmental catalogue. Composer-first for the major estates (Stravinsky, Britten, Copland, Bartók, Reich), format for orchestra, opera and chamber, plus the Boosey & Hawkes Wind Band catalogue and the educational and exam-board materials.
