Financing — For Serious Instruments

Financing · For Serious Instruments

Financing for the instrument of a career.

For musicians buying the violin, the bow, the trumpet, or the bassoon they will play for the next twenty years.

Two paths

How financing works at The Musicians Club.

We use Shop Pay Installments at checkout — Shopify's installment-financing partner. Two paths, depending on order size:

Split Pay · Up to $999.99

0% APR.
Four interest-free payments.

Split your purchase into 4 equal payments, due every two weeks. No interest. No fees. No effect on your credit score from the soft eligibility check.

Reeds, mouthpieces, accessories, sheet music, smaller instrument purchases.

Monthly Installments · $150 to $30,000

3, 6, or 12 months.
15% APR, fixed.

For step-up and pro-grade purchases. Pick a 3-, 6-, or 12-month plan at checkout. Your exact monthly payment shows before you commit — no compounding, no prepayment penalty.

The instrument is yours the moment we ship it. Shop Pay pays us in full; you repay over the term you chose.

For acquisitions above $30,000

Concierge handles the rare-instrument tier.

Shop Pay Installments caps at $30,000. For fine violins, hand-made bows, premier brass and woodwind above that ceiling, the Concierge handles bespoke financing arrangements, insured shipping, provenance documentation, and Workshop-Verified inspection. Reply within one business day.

What qualifies.

  • Any instrument or accessory order at or above the qualifying threshold
  • Bundled outfits — violin + bow + case as a single financed package

What does not.

  • Subscription products — Standing Order — already monthly
  • Hire-library rental fees

Common questions.

Will applying hurt my credit?

The initial soft check at Shop Pay Installments does not affect your credit score. If you proceed with a multi-month plan, the hard pull is reported as a single inquiry — typical impact is 5-10 points and recovers within six months. Split Pay (under $1,000) does not require a hard pull.

What happens if I miss a payment?

A grace period applies before late fees (varies by state, typically capped at $7-10). Continued missed payments are reported to credit bureaus. Email us early at financing@themusiciansclub.net if you anticipate one — we can usually help arrange a one-time deferral.

Can I pay off early?

Yes. There is no prepayment penalty on any Shop Pay Installments plan. Pay off the principal at any time and stop accruing interest.

Is financing available outside the United States?

Shop Pay Installments is currently US-only at the consumer level. International customers can pay with major credit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay at checkout. For high-value international acquisitions, contact the Concierge — we accommodate the customer's local payment infrastructure where possible.

The five-year picture

Buying the right instrument is rarely about cash on hand.

It is about whether the instrument will pay back over the years you play it. A $5,000 step-up violin financed over 12 months at 15% APR — about $458 per month — that the player keeps for 10 years and practices 30 minutes a day, has effectively cost roughly $50/month over the lifespan. Touched 1,800 hours.

$0.27 per hour.

There is no cheaper hour of art in modern life.
