This three-movement work was written after the passing of the composer's wife, Candy. The first movement (A Simple Peace) is based on a short piano prelude he composed for her when they were dating. The second movement (A Sorrowful Peace) seeks to put into music how he and their children felt shortly following her death. And the third movement (A Heavenly Peace) is adapted from an unaccompanied choral piece written when the composer thought of Candy in heaven, with instrumentation added to accompany the choir. This personal piece reflects the thoughts one man had while grieving.
