A Very Special Gift

Part of the Julie Yu-Oppenheim Choral Series, “A Very Special Gift” is suitable for high school, collegiate, and community choirs. Conveying themes of hope, dignity, and compassion, the Korean text offers a message of encouragement to individuals who have been marginalized due to physical, mental, or social circumstances, expressing the heartfelt sentiment: “Because of you, we have hope. You are our very special gift.” The piece is drawn from Misun Kim's larger choral-musical work A Very Special Gift, which received a Certificate of Honor from the Minister of Health and Welfare of Korea in recognition of its contribution to raising social awareness about Type 1 Diabetes.
