As its name suggests, Manganese Steel is steel with manganese added to enhance durability and decrease brittleness. Its high durability and resistance to wear make it a suitable material for applications such as train tracks.

Historically used in some high-end snare drums, this highly regarded material is now rarely used due to availability and cost considerations.By adopting this niche material for this drum shell, we have achieved a modern sound that retains the characteristic core sound of steel, while delivering a strong, forward - projecting tone and musical sustain even under heavy playing. It is magnificent under recording studio conditions. The hoop and shell surfaces feature a pearl nickel plating - also known as velvet plating - with a clear coat finish. This treatment reduces hardness compared to chrome plating providing a pleasant, resonant tone.

This new generation, digital native style snare drum achieves an unparalleled price point through Canopus fundamentally rethinking standardized production processes. From the very first note it is clear that this drum is a unique sonic masterpiece - with a sound, presence and feel that set it apart from conventional steel snares.
