This choral work was commissioned by the Centre for the Thought for John Paul II in Warsaw in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of John Paul II. The first performance was given by the Choir of the Centre for the Thought for John Paul II, conducted by Jan Krutul at the Choral Competition Wroclaw, the City of Music - National Choral Music Forum in Poland in October 2021.

The text is taken from a Homily by John Paul II during the dedication of The Shrine of Mercy, Krakow, 17th August 2002:

'This fire of mercy needs to be passed to the world. May you be witnesses to mercy in the world. Amen.' -Pope John Paul II
