SoftRing.
A single-purpose ring mute for the bell — trumpet, piccolo trumpet, and flügelhorn — that dampens rim vibrations to produce a soft, mellow tone without changing the way the horn blows.
Soft, mellow tone
from the rim.
The atelier’s line, set above the door: “The SoftRing is a ring mute that attaches to the rim of the trumpet’s bell, dampening its vibrations to create a soft, mellow tone.”
The mute lives outside the bell rather than inside it, which is the whole brief: nothing in the air column to push back against, no pitch-bending corkery to fight on the way up to the high register. It rides on the rim, dampens the rim, and that’s where the tone change comes from.
One product fits trumpet, piccolo trumpet, and flügelhorn — one ring, three voices.
